In this article you will learn:
what card types are and why you should use them;
how to change a card type;
how to create new card types;
how to delete old card types;
how to set up default card types for your board or lane.
Card types allow you to make card design patterns for different types of tasks.
When you create a particular card type, you give it a name, and you can add a task description template and attach mandatory fields.
If the field is mandatory, information about it will be added to the card. If the card does not have the mandatory fields filled in, FlowFast will highlight such a card with a yellow warning.
This will help to:
bring the cards on the boards into uniformity;
have as detailed a description of each type of task as possible;
avoid wasting the performers' time searching for important information on the task.
Method 1: Open the card and click on a type. In the menu that opens select the desired card type.
Method 2: Directly on the board, click on the coloured bar in the upper left corner of the card. Select the desired card type in the menu that opens.
To create new card types you must have access to the administrative section "Card types".
1. In the administrative menu, select the section "Card types".
2. Click "Add card type".
3. Think of a name for the type and an emoji (or letter), click "Save", choose a color marker and optionally fill in the "Description template".
4. Add mandatory fields for this card type.
For example, we want the developers to always specify a size for bug cards. To do this, we create a Bug card type, and in its settings, we specify the required field "Size". Now in the cards of this type field "Size" will be highlighted in color.
And if this field is not filled in, a warning will appear on the front of the card stating that the required fields are not filled in.
Deleting a type is done from the same administrative section "Card Types".
Select the card type you want and click on the delete icon. FlowFast will then offer to replace the type to be deleted in the cards with the existing type.
By default, all cards on all boards/columns in your space have the Card type. This type will not appear in the Card Type field even if you select it manually (see above How to change card type).
However, if you wish to have a specific card type on your board or column by default, you may change this.
To do this, click on the three dots in the top right corner of the board. From the drop-down menu, select "Default card type".
In the window that appears, you will see your current default card type and you can change it to another.
The default card type settings will only affect new cards. Cards that are already on the board will remain unchanged. They will need to be changed manually.
