You can now keep an eye on changes with the child cards and have certain actions done with the parent cards based on these changes.
For example, you can move a parent card to the next column when all the child cards are done.
Open the space where you have parent cards for which you want to create an automation based on changes in the state of child cards.
Go the the «Automations» in the right sidebar, choose event «Child cards state is changed» and then pick up the automated action that you want to happen with the parent cards when the state of the child ones is changed.
You can use the «Child cards state is changed» trigger either separately or together with additional conditions:
If you use the trigger without conditions, then the automation will take place if one of the following changes happen: the change in the amount of the child cards and/or the fulfilment of child cards (i.e. they are «Done»).
For example, if the amount of child cards is changed or they will be done, the parent card will move to the «Negotiation» column.
Additionally, you can use a trigger together with the condition «Change in child cards», then you'll be able to track the exact changes of the state of the child cards.:
all child cards are done;
all child cards are in queue;
count of child cards is changed;
count of child cards is increased;
count of child cards is decreased.
For example, you want a parent card to move to the next column only when all its child cards get to the «Done» column. At the same time the change in the number of child cards should affect the automation.
One more example, imagine you want to quickly react to the situations when someone deletes child cards and thus doesn't work with them. Then you can crate an automation when the «Attention!» tag is added to the parent card when the amount of child cards decreases.
Furthermore, you can specify the automation even more thoroughly by adding conditions for the parent cards:
card path (location);
card type;
card state;
card tag;
property;
due date;
event author.
For example, you want the automation to work only for the cards located on a certain board, but not all the cards in a space. Then you can choose an additional codition «Card path».
