How to add, archive, remove, restore columns and lanes

Adding columns and lanes

To add a column or lane:

  1. Click on the plus sign in the top right corner of the board. 

  2. Choose whether you want to add a column or a lane. 

  1. Come up with a name.

By default the column will appear at the end of the board (on the right) with the column type "In Progress". You will then be able to move it to the desired location and set the desired type.

By default the added lane will appear at the end of the board (bottom). You can then move it to the desired location.


Another way to add a column is to click on the plus sign next to an already existing column. Select the "Create Column" option and choose the position relative to the existing column: on the left or on the right.

Moving columns and lanes

  1. Click on the three dots next to the column or lane;

  2. Select the "Move" option. 

  3. Then choose where you want to move the column or lane.

Archiving lanes

You can move a lane to the Archive. To do this: 

  1. Press the three dots it open the context menu of the desired lane. 

  2. From the menu that appears, select "Archive".

All the archived cards from that lane will be found in the "Archive" section.

Managing archived lanes

If you have accidentally archived a lane, you can retrieve it via the board's context menu.

  1. Click the three dots in the upper right corner of the board

  2. From the menu that appears, select "Manage archived lanes".

  1. In the window that appears, select the desired lane and click the "Unarchive" icon to the right of the lane name.

Archiving columns

In FlowFast, you can't archive the column itself. But you can archive all cards from a column in one click, or set up auto-archiving of cards from columns with the types "Queue" or "Done".

Archiving cards from a column

  1. Click on the three dots at the very bottom of the column 

  2. Manage cards

  3. Archive all cards.

The column itself will remain on the board and the cards will go to Archive..

Cards from the "Queue" and "Done" column types can be automatically archived after a certain period of time. 

Please note, blocked cards and the cards with public access are not archived.

  1. Click on the three dots next to the column name 

  2. Enable auto archivation

  3. Select the period of time the card should be in the column after which the card will be archived.

Deleting columns and lanes

  1. Click the three dots in the upper right corner of a column or lane

  2. From the menu that appears, select "Remove".


After you delete a column, all cards located on it become unavailable. You can move them before deletion to another location on the same board or to another board. If you wish to delete a column along with the cards, check the "Do not move cards" box.

Recovering deleted lanes

You may restore a deleted lane along with all the cards that have not been moved before deletion.

To do this you must have access to the "Activity Logs" administrative section.

  1. Go to Administration - "Activity Logs" section.

  2. Select the required lane from the list and click 'Restore'.

The lane will be restored to the board from which it was removed.

If the board where the lane was located is no longer available, you are prompted to restore the board first, and then the lane is restored to the board automatically.
