We keep on improving the Automation add-on, so, now you can:
set reminders to automatically added due dates of cards;
set changing custom properties as a trigger.
In this article you'll learn how to make profit of these functions..
One of the possible actions in automation is setting a due date. Now you can also set a reminder about a due date if you set both a relative or exact date.
For example, when a card is moved to a board the due date is set and the card should be finished not later than in 5 days. In order that card members don't forget about the deadline, you can set an auto-reminder that will be sent several days, hours or minutes before the deadline or exactly at the time you set.
This guarantees that changing a due date will not be unexpected for card members.
Now there are two new events that you can use as triggers for automations:
Trigger «Property is changed» tracks changes in the custom properties.
Choose this trigger, add condition «Changed property» and set the exact change you expect: the property is set or cleared, there are any changes of the property value or the exact value is set.
Probably, setting a certain property is a kind of report on the work done or it's a trigger to move a card to a different board.
For example, you have a property «Contract», where you add a link to the necessary documentation. If this property is filled in it means the card went through a «Drafting a contract» stage and can move further. In this case, the trigger «Property is changed» - «Any changes of property value» can help automate the process of card movement to a new stage.
Another example: in your company certain people are responsible for certain projects. You have got a property «Project» where you set one of the project types. In this case, the trigger «Property is changed» - «Is set to» - «The name of the project» can help you to set a necessary responsible member.
Condition «Property» can be used as additional one to any trigger/event, if your automations should work differently depending on the custom properties in a card.
It means that if the card is moved and the property is set in a certain way one action will happen and if the card is moved and the property is not set - another.
For example, there are several employees who work on one and the same board. One of them is responsible for projects, the others work with some current tasks. In this case you can add a trigger «Card is moved» and add a condition «Property» - «Project» - «Is set» and the action «Make responsible». It means that the responsible member will be set for the cards that will be moved to this board with the set property «Project» unlike for other cards without this property.
Create automations to get rid of routine actions in the task-tracker and spare more time for truly important tasks.
