How can you avoid being confused working with the cards in FlowFast and get the most important tasks to work on first?
We'll show you several ways to highlight the priorities of your tasks using the FlowFast tools. Choose any of them or combine several at once to work more efficiently!
You'll learn:
How to arrange cards on the board by priority;
How to prioritize tasks via custom properties;
How to prioritize tasks via tags;
How to divide tasks on the board within lanes based on priorities;
How to show the urgency of tasks using visual signals;
How to sort cards in columns by priority;
How to make a collective assessment of task priority.
Generally the higher a card is in a column on the FlowFast boards, the higher it is considered a priority.
You can rearrange the cards in the columns as you wish. Simply create a card and move it to the right place in the column depending on the priority.
To do this, create a custom property with the Select type and list the types of priorities you can specify for the cards.
Let's say you have decided that the priority will be set on a 4-point scale. Then "Priority 1" is assigned to the most urgent tasks, and so on down to "Priority 4".
Once the custom priority properties have been filled in, you can filter the cards in the space according to these priorities. To do this, click on the desired priority on the front of the card:

To understand which tasks are higher priority and which are lower priority, you can create appropriate tags for tasks of different priority levels.
For example, you can create 'Urgent', 'Regular' and 'Longterm' tags and add them to the relevant cards:
Once you have created the tags, you can filter the cards on the space by them - displaying only the tasks with the priority you want.
This can be done by clicking on the desired tag on the card facade or via the "Filters" button at the top of the space.
👉 You can read about creating tags here.
If you have many tasks on your board with different priorities, lanes will help highlight the highest priority tasks. The performers will understand from which lane it is most important for them to take the card to work.
Create separate lanes for each type of task based on priority. For example, "Urgent" and "Standard". Place the high priority lane at the top of the board and the lower priority one below.
Agree within the team which tasks are most important and place them in the "Urgent" lane – this way they will always be at the top of the board.

To show that a task is a priority, you can also use the "ASAP" icon. You can do this through the "Due date" field, where you can set a deadline for the task.
The icon will be displayed on the front of the card.
You can also filter the tasks in the space by the deadline.
In FlowFast, it is not necessary to manually move important cards up the column. There is an option to sort the cards in the column for this purpose. You can sort the cards by name, size, creation date, due date, and custom properties.
For example, make the cards with the closest due date appear higher in the column, or place the cards with the highest priority at the top.
To do this, click the three dots next to the column name → Manage cards → Sort cards:
In the window that opens select the sorting type, lane and order of the cards:

The cards in FlowFast have a Size field – this can also be used to prioritize cards.
For example, maximum size – maximum priority.
Open the card, click on the purple button in the top left corner and select Size.
The "Size" field will then appear in the card. Then click on the "Set Size" link and enter the value. Click on "Save".
You can also use the collective value feature of the card. This will help to prioritize the task based on the opinion of several team members.
